Lifeline to Develop Mobile Payment App for Water User Fees

With support from the Stone Family Foundation, Lifeline has partnered with local Ugandan software firm OMNItech, Ltd., to develop a mobile payment application for submitting water user fees.

Users of the app will be able to pay fees via mobile money and EverFlow customers can receive messages with reminder notices when their water bills are due – no smartphone necessary. By reducing the barriers that rural communities face in reaching banks, this app moves Lifeline one step closer to supporting the financial sustainability of the EverFlow model.
